The Anderson shelter cake.

Today was a nice peaceful productive day and I'd arranged with Ruby to make a cake in the shape of an Anderson shelter for her homework, so the cadburys fingers, , almonds ( look like sandbags)desiccated coconut were bought.
I found the ideal Picture as a pattern so when she got home we baked a flat chocolate cake and a green coloured sponge in a loaf tin.
We combined the two. We used icing to stick the cadburys fingers to look like corrugated iron, we did the same with the almonds to look like sand bags.we finished it off with green coconut as grass and brown coconut for mud .
It was all ready to take to school this morning when I remembered a child in her class has severe nut allergies. We took it covered in lots of cling film straight to her teacher. It was such a shame, I had to bring it straight home before her friends could see it. I sent some photos via email so the teacher could show everyone.
So I've invited all the family round for tea and cake after school so she can show it off, well done Ruby x

School Run ! Pushed buttons!

And breathe....
I thought HRT was going to be the answer to all my problems! This morning showed that I had put to much faith in it.
At 20.10 last night ruby informed me she had to do last weeks homework (she forgot it weds and was off thurs, fri ) it was 20mins to bedtime. So I woke her at 06.40 but she fell back to sleep, again at 7, but she was on a go slow and it didn't get any better.
I of course reverted to type and shouting we were late, I detest being late, I'd also found that she'd had her friends in the spare room and had left two rooms in a mess!
I struggle to stay calm with the threat of being late and can't deal with things rationally and I hate that about myself because I can hear my dad in me.
So ruby knows she will be busy finishing her homework and her bedroom while her friends are playing .
I don't remember what I was like getting ready for school but we had a 2 1/2 mile journey that most the time was done on foot.
God help us , with me menopausal all we need now is ruby to start puberty. Touch wood Mat is fifteen and seems to be gliding through puberty but I know she won't !
Anyway , that's my rant over for another day.

Snow,rugby and neighbours

Date night, what a fun night walking into town in the snow. We had supper at The Romna and a few glasses in Quigleys . The snow had been falling all evening so it was even more fun on the way home, I played umbrella target practice with some teenagers, everywhere looked so pretty.
Sunday we had a snowman building competition with the neighbours and a huge snowball fight which was fantastic fun.
We were invited to watch the rugby with neighbours, it was an excellent game and so much fun to be with our new neighbours and the kids were all still playing out in the snow.
It lasted all evening and for the second night running I went to bed very tipsy but happy.
It was so good to be in social situations and not getting hot and bothered and wearing what I wanted to wear rather than having to wear cotton all the time.

Happy day

Today I feel buzzing and on top of the world and it's been a long time since I felt like this.
I was disappointed that my Stevenage girls reunion had to be cancelled as i was looking forward to it but the weather report said 'snow' plus Rich was supposed to be fishing (that was the whole point of a girly sleepover while he was away) and that was cancelled too. So today I arranged Mum to have Ruby overnight.
I was told by a neighbour that I looked really well and seemed to be glowing and that made me very happy because I can't remember the last time I was given a complement.
So we took the kids to The Bank for a fab lunch and later went to see the house my brother and family are buying and it's really nice.
I'm looking forward to date night with hubby and just hope the weather stays ok as I don't have any snowy going out shoes! Also this will be the test to see if I have a hot flush when in a warm pub,so wish me luck x

Day 4 , a good day

Well today was a good day.I joined Slimming World on Fri 13th January to help me lose weight ,Ive lost 11Ibs so far,I got my first half stone sticker today I lost 4 Ibs before joining).
Hubby Rich has never dieted but realizes he needs to eat healthy too and has lost a stone . I know that I've spent my life yo yo dieting but this time it will be life changing because rich is doing it too.
I could see lots of grey hairs in my eye brows and it made me feel bad so today  I had my eyebrows tinted for the first time, then threaded. They look amazing,I wish  I'd had it done ages ago. While I was having it done my 11yr old (Ruby) was begging to have a fish pedicure,it was only £7 for 15 mins so I let her,her giggles were infectious, she loved it.
I also have brown hair too after putting a colour on this evening,it's amazing how much better you feel after a bit of beauty treatment.
I changed my patch for the first time today ,I've put a fri and tues patch changing alert on my iphone cos my memory is rubbish.
Another day with no hot flushes or freezing cold moments,I'm loving HRT x

Day one of HRT journey

On TUESDAY i placed the first HRT patch on my leg, other than a two day headache everything seems ok so far.I haven't had a hot flush since so that's good.
I also have to use a skinny blue thing that has to be inserted for fifteen nights in a row to make my love life hopefully return! Bit embarrassing but hopefully it will be worth it.
